Kadre Movie (Ang buhay ni Ka Ruben) stars Cesar Montano as Ruben Torres, an activist during the time of President Ferdinand Marcos. He became DOLE (Department of Labor and Employment) secretary under the presidency of Corazon ‘Cory’ Aquino, and later as Executive Secretary under President Fidel V. Ramos. This Ruben Torres life story is produced by Premiere Productions and directed by Joel Lamangan.
Kadre Movie Plot Summary
At the start, Ka Ruben (Cesar Montano) alias Kadre can be seen joining a protest rally against President Marcos. When Martial Law was declared on September 21, 1972, he left her wife Amar (Charlene Gonzales) and their two young children, and his father (Robert Arevalo). He joined an underground movement and used the name Miguel Lozano, and fought against the government forces in the mountains.
The movie also showed some flashbacks, including the reporting of the death of President Ramon Magsaysay on March 17, 1957, via a plane crash, when Ka Ruben was still young, and his law studies at the University of the Philippines in the early 1960s. Later, Torres discovered the flaws within the group and decided to surrender to the government, and became instrumental in the peace process in Mindanao.
