Since the jeepney modernization program is still a hot topic, we decided to compile at least a dozen active and well-known jeepney builders and manufacturers here in Luzon for everyone’s convenience.
There are so many small builders out there and here in Batangas alone, I cannot name every shop who assemble jeepney body.
Batangas, Laguna, Cavite, and Rizal are the top provinces when it comes to building the jeepney’s body.
Although the number of big shops has been in steady decline, the number of small repair and assembly shops are also increasing.

In the town of Rosario in Batangas, I once visited a place (2 years ago) where three jeepney assemblers are found just 500 meters away from each other. These shops built the finest modern jeepneys running on the streets of Batangas.
Jeepneys are not so popular in Visayas and Mindanao as compared to Luzon so I did not include the AUV assemblers in the Visayas and Mindanao.
I remember during the early ’90s when I was in college, in Bacolod City there was a company called Transcor Motors at Brgy. Singcang. They assembled passenger AUVs called Chariot and my rough estimates say they built more than 1,000 units of those Chariots, which some are still running along the Silay-Bacolod route today.
There is also another assembler called Cebro which later re-branded to Celeste Motors. They convert Mitsubishi Canter trucks to minibus until today. Their main office is located along Rizal St. in Silay City.
